International Regional Forum on the 5th Anniversary of the “Belt and Road”

On November 16th, the International Regional Forum on the 5th Anniversary of the “Belt and Road” was co-sponsored by the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka and the Sri Lankan Think Tank Bandalanaike International Research Center, successfully held in Colombo.

21 experts and scholars from 10 countries including China, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Singapore, Spain, Greece, and Kenya attended the meeting, and representatives from all walks of life, foreign missions, Chinese-funded enterprises, and overseas Chinese representatives A total of about 350 people attended the conference.

Cheng Xueyuan, Chinese ambassador to Sri Lanka, stated at the opening ceremony of the forum that the “One Belt, One Road” initiative proposed to provide a Chinese plan to promote the recovery and development of the world economy and promote the transformation of the global governance system.

After five years of practice, the “One Belt, One Road” initiative has transformed from ideas and visions into real-world actions, achieving major achievements and being supported and responded by more and more countries.

In the past five years, China and Sri Lanka have made important progress in the business, co-construction and sharing of the “Belt and Road”, and have made tremendous contributions to the economic and social development of Sri Lanka. At the same time, they have brought tangible benefits to the Sri Lankan people.

Ambassador Cheng said that the “One Belt, One Road” initiative began with “policy communication” and stood at the “people’s heart”.

Ambassador Cheng called on relevant think tank scholars to make full use of the seminar opportunities, strengthen academic exchanges and cooperation, and learn from each other, to contribute more wisdom and inject new vitality to the construction of the “Belt and Road”, and to appeal to friends from all walks of life in Sri Lanka to join hands with China to paint together.
